Amilcar Manuel Reis Moreira

 

Amilcar Moreira is Invited Assistant Professor at the ISEG, Lisbon Shool of Economics & Management (ISEG-ULisboa), where he is responsible for curricular units of quantitative methods, and professor of the Doctoral Programme in Economic Sociology and Organizations. Holds a PhD in Social and Political Sciences (specialization in Social Policy) from the University of Bath (United Kingdom), and is an integrated research member at the Research Centre in Economic and Organizational Sociology (SOCIUS) and currently a board-member of the Centre. He was previously at the Instituto de Ciências Sociais of the Universidade de Lisboa (ICS-UL), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), and Oslo Metropolitan University (Norway).
With extensive experience of participating in international projects, his research focuses on the impacts of demographic ageing on the Welfare State and the sustainability of pension systems. He is the main-researcher of the project DYNAPOR (Dynamic Microsimulation Model for Portugal) project. More recently, is research has focused in the response to COVID-19 in the field of social policies.
The results of his research are published in newspapers (Social Policy & Administration; European Journal of Social Security, European Journal of Ageing, of Journal of Ageing) and international publishers (Oxford University Press, Policy Press).
